Advocacy Update: Where Things Currently Stand on UAS Access to the U.S. Airspace

As the loyal readers of Unmanned Systems magazine and AUVSI's weekly Unmanned Systems eBrief already know, the pace of enacting laws and regulations to grant unmanned aerial system access to the U.S. National Airspace System is frustratingly slow. Although the ability to fly UAS in the NAS is still extremely limited, work continues on figuring out how unmanned and manned aircraft will fly safely together in desegregated airspace.The Federal Aviation Administration's Aviation Safety Unmanned Aircraft Program Office and the FAA's Air Traffic Organization UAS Group, along with its regional service areas, are working together to try to come up with a plan for how UAS are going to safely integrate into the NAS.
