Whether deep under the ocean, floating along in littoral waters or gliding along the surface, robotic vehicles abounded at this year's Offshore Technology Conference, carving out their place in a large market ripe with potential. A staggeringly large four-day display at Houston's Reliant Park with more than 2,000 exhibitors, the show leans largely on tried and true oil and gas technologies. However, unmanned systems creators and user companies were out in numbers, showcasing underwater robots with long endurance and workhorse power in this notoriously difficult environment.
