Drones are becoming a critical tool for search and rescue and first responders, says Matthew Perry, managing director of North America for industry heavyweight DJI. For the first time, at the annual Xponential show in Denver in May, Perry presented the DJI-sponsored Humanitarian Award to five winners that made a significant impact using unmanned systems in humanitarian or philanthropic efforts. The recipients received a total of $25,000, divided among their organizations.
