Hobas Helps Solve Needs Of Los Angeles ECIS Project

The city of Los Angeles operates more than 620 miles of sewers, numerous pumping stations and four wastewater treatment plants. These serve over three million people plus commercial and industrial facilities. It should surprise no one that the city's sewerage and storm drainage system is both complex and sometimes overloaded, and that it often needs updating and expansion to meet the demands of the growing population. Over the years, LA has dealt with some serious problems with system capacity. In particular, with the city's North Outfall Sewer system (NOS), an elliptical brick sewer which was completed in the 1920s and extended in the 1940s. Beginning around 1993, rehabilitation of the system's lower end, one of the largest outfalls within the city, began by sliplining using Hobas pipe for much of the work. Repairs took place over several years and included a number of different projects.
