HDD Maintenance Improves Bottom Line, Productivity

Horizontal directional drilling (HDD) activity is up; however, prices paid for HDD ser-vices remain flat and there are still plenty of contrators competing for directional drilling segments of projects. The bottorn line is more important than ever, and the difference between profit and loss can depend on productivity which relates directly to equipment performance. "Productivity is about up time," comments Richard Levings, Ditch Witch senior product manager. "For all the preparations and activities that go into a bore, the time spent boring is very short. So when you're in the boring window, the drill unit needs to perform."
