There was a time when performance was the sole standard by which a construction machine was judged. How powerful is it? How much work can it do? And how fast can it do it? Those were questions equipment sales people were prepared to answer when touting their products to prospective buyers. It's different now. Certainly, performance measured by production still is important, but in the past few years there has been a growing emphasis on how user friendly a machine is. Manufacturers have come to recognize that design and placement of controls, operator visibility and operator comfort are important and that buyers recognize that they directly affect productivity and not only enable operators to get more work from their machines, but help them work more safely.
