The need to digitise the archives of many institutions is a pressing one. Film stock only lasts so long before it destabilises and it is perfectly possible for tape stock to degrade or be caught in cultural obsolescence as technology inexorably progresses. As a result, organisations not only need their material to be transferred to a format suitable for long-term storage, they need that material to be accessible as well.
