Safeguarding with wet shotcrete on 175 m~2 tunnel cross-section

In the north western part of Germany a 378 m long tunnel is currently under construction in Betzdorf. On completion, it will noticeably reduce the amount of through traffic in the town. The large tunnel cross-section at the south portal is unusually large but as work progresses it becomes smaller. To secure the excavation and to stabilise the working face, the working group is using a concrete wet spraying device type SIKA-PM 500 P.%Im Nordosten von Rheinland-Pfalz wird zurzeit in Betz-dorf ein 378 m langer Tunnel gebaut, der nach Fertigstellung die Ortschaft vom Durchgangsverkehr spürbar entlasten wird. Ungewöhnlich ist der große Tunnelquerschnitt im Bereich des Südportals, der mit zunehmendem Baufortschritt allerdings reduziert wird. Zur Sicherung des Ausbruchs, aber auch zur Stabilisierung der Ortsbrust setzt die Arbeitsgemeinschaft ein Beton-Nassspritzgerät des Typs SIKA-PM 500 P ein.
