Infotainment Elevator for Altena Castle - An unusual Tunnelling and Shaft Sinking Project

The town of Altena was committed to making the castle more easily accessible and thus even more attractive for visitors. As a result, a tunnel and shaft complex was set up, providing a direct link between Altena's pedestrian zone and the upper courtyard of the castle. An elevator was then subsequently built into the shaft. The tunnelling roughwork operations for this project were executed by the mining specialists Feldhaus Bergbau and Deilmann-Haniel and completed as scheduled in June 2013. In this way, the extremely tight construction period was adhered to. The town of Altena as client has expressed just how pleased it is with the manner in which work has progressed and its outcome.
