Our country's infrastructure is on the brink of crisis. In 2008, the most recent data available, the Environmental Protection Agency (EPA) and the Government Accountability Office (GAO) released studies predicting an investment funding gap of more than $635 billion for upgrading and repairing America's public water and wastewater systems. This means that funding was $635 billion short of what was needed to bring the 2008 water and wastewater system up to par before any new infrastructure is added.This number has undoubtedly increased since 2008, and a new study is due out in the fall of 2013.
