Renault Trucks has launched a new version of its RangeT haulage tractor, promising a 2% fuel efficiency boost - 5% if optional features are used. The unit features: Optivision, an enhanced predictive cruise control system with GPS; and an improved aerodynamics pack, including an optional under-bumper spoiler and a light roof deflector. Several chassis components have also been redesigned. A new drive axle and improvements in the air suspension reduce vehicle weight, and operators can specify an aluminium fifth wheel - yielding 114kg payload improvement. Renault has also upgraded its DT 111 and DT 113 engines to improve fuel consumption and comply with Euro 6 Step C (mandatory on 31 December 2016). DT113 also now has a common rail injection system, following its earlier implementation on the 11-litre model. As for Optivision, the system records the route of all similarly equipped trucks so that fuel savings can be achieved if any other truck has travelled the route. With the Fuel Eco+ pack, which combines the Fuel Eco pack and Optivision, Renault says operators can cut fuel by 5%.
