Scottish Fire and Rescue Service can vouch forthe durability of Michelin truck tyres. It was the first UK emergency service to fit the X Multiway 3D XZE steer tyres in 2011 and, more than four years later, the fitments are still going strong. After covering 58,000km, the set of 315/70 R 22.5s is projected to cover over 71,000km - almost twice that achieved by the previous fitment, according to fleet manager Scott Roberts.The brigade previously favoured 275/70 R 22.5 XZE2+, he adds, but the move to larger tyres, combined with the new tread pattern, ticks all the boxes.
