Autonomous vehicles see government consultation

A formal consultation on driverless vehicles in the UK, launched last month by DfT (Department for Transport) and the Centre for Connected and Autonomous Vehicles, is seen as positive by transport industry leaders. 'Pathway to Driverless Cars: proposals to support advanced driver assistance systems and automated vehicle technologies (AVT)' sets out government thinking, including around maximising opportunities for the UK. It also suggests that the DfT sees potential from AVT not only for safe and efficient passenger transport, but also for freight.
