Compensation demand to follow OEM cartel ruling

The entire UK haulage industry has been the victim of a price-fixing cartel and will be seeking compensation through the courts from the truck manufacturers involved. So says the RHA (Road Haulage Association) in the wake of last month's news that European truck manufacturers have been fined a record €2.93 billion (£2.5 billion)for running a price-fixing cartel between 1997 and 2011. Daimler will pay €1 billion; DAF, €753milion; Volvo/ Renault, €670 million; and Iveco, €495 million. MAN escaped a charge of around €1.2 billion because company management revealed the existence of the cartel.
