A truck like Stralis

One year on from the launch of the Stralis tractive unit and the next model in lveco's truck-range renewal programme has been unveiled. The name? Stralis, funnily enough. The "Active Space" label attached to the first Stralis turns out to be more significant than was obvious at first. The latest models, tractors and rigids, are tagged "Active Time" and "Active Day". Their mission is to win lveco a bigger share of the fleet market, with specifications geared mainly towards regional distribution. The key difference between the two newcomers and the original Stralis is cab width. The latest cab is 2.28 metres wide compared with 2.48 metres for the Active Space. Bumper-to-back-of-cab dimensions differ too. Whereas the Active Space sleeper cab measures 2.35m, the Active Time is intended only for occasional night-out work and can get away with 2.15m. The day-cab Active Day is 1.66m long. Two cab heights are available, the taller one providing 1.82m (6ft) of standing headroom on top of the engine cover, and enough room, arguably, for the optional second bunk.
