Government urged to ditch training bureaucracy and 'virtual apprenticeships'

The government's record on skills training in general and apprenticeships in particular came under blistering attack last month. Speaking at the annual SOE industry lunch in London, Conservative MP and shadow minister for vocational education John Hayes accused the government in effect of having ignored an influential and damning report of two years ago on Britain's skills by "doing nothing to reduce the bureaucracy strangling the delivery of training and consuming far too much of the skills budget."
