Safety recall for Hankook van tyres

Van operators are being warned to check their tyres in response to a voluntary safety recall from Hankook, the big tyre-maker based in South Korea. All affected tyres have been withdrawn from retailers' stocks, according to Hankook. Any found on vehicles in service will be replaced free of charge.rnThe recall covers 16-inch diameter RA08 radial van tyres made at a big new European production plant in Hungary between April 2008 and June 2009.rn"While fully complying with the strict requirements of the Economic Commission for Europe Regulations (ECE R54) we have found during our ongoing quality assessment of our product we identified that some of the above tyres, produced in Hungary, did not meet Hankook Tire's establishedrnhigh quality standards," says a Hankook statement.
