Yet Jim Sumner has no hesitation in answering our question this way, and manages to make it sound sincere. Perhaps this is a measure of the scale of the challenge Mr Sumner does indeed now face in his new job. In June he quit as managing director of Leyland Trucks to become chief executive at Optare, the Blackburn- and Leeds-based bus-builder.
