Perth LRT Proposal

Perth's first light rail line, the Metro Area Express, MAX, has been given the green light with the Western Australian and Federal Governments committing $15.8 million to a feasibility study that will include engineering and design studies and public consultation. Phase 1 of the project comprises a 22 km inverted Y-shaped line running from the Balga TAFE campus to the south along Alexander Drive and Fitzgerald Street to the CBD, where the line will split with one arm going west to the Queen Elizabeth II Medical Centre in Nedlands and the other across the Causeway to Victoria Park.
