A Methodology for Simulating Safe Offshore Installation of Lifeboats in the North Sea

The instrumentation of the offshore installation method provided a rare opportunity to test the numerical simulation tool and methodology used to determine peak loads and motions expected. The simulations prior to the installation lift were shown to be conservative, as the lift was performed in a more benign seastate than that simulated. To get a better test of the simulation methodology, new simulation were done using the reported Hs, Tp and wave direction.
