The G-Class vessel is a 360 meter long containership with a 46 meter beam and a draft of 15 meters at full load. This vessel, designed by Argo Engineering and Design, has a container capacity of 10,065 twenty-foot equivalent units and is set to operate from the Port of Shanghai, China to the Port of New York/New Jersey, U.S.A. through the newly widened Panama Canal. This new class of dual-fueld containerships operate on both Liquified Natural Gas and fuel oil. The vessel meets upcoming MARPOL emmissions conventions, while still being compliant with International Maritime Organization, International Labour Organization, American Bureau of Shipping and U.S. Coast Guard conventions, regulations, and guidelines. The two main propulsion engines transmit power through a combining gear and into the 10.7 meter diameter, six bladed fixed pitch propeller. Argo Engineering and Design selected the MAERSK ENDINBURGH and the MAERSK KUNTAN as similar ships for the G-Class vessel to aid with the determination of tank size and general arrangements for the vessel. General arragnments and tank sizing were designed with a focus on cargo optimization. The superstructure on the vessel provides amenities for the 36 crew members on board. Ideally, based on the predicted timeline, the first of the G-Class Containerships will be operational in approximately 4 years.
