Power predictions based on results of well known systematic model series as well as on experi- mental results of routine tests which tare in turn based on physically non comparable individual tests with ship and propeller models performed separately do not meet the increased requirements for reliable power prediction, especially when interaction and scale effects play an important ro- le. The problem attaching to scale effects may be solved only by comparison of full-scale and the corresponding model test results.
