Generation of Hypervelocity Liqiod Jest Using a Powder Gun and Impact Experiment

摘要

We generated pulsed hypervelocity liquid jets to about 5 km/s using a powder gun and carried out an experimental program of perforation of metal plates by the impact of the jets. The gun has a 15 mm bore diameter. The jets were generated by using a hypervelocity projectile to impact on a specially designed nozzle in which liquid was contained. The behaviors of the jets were visualized by holography and a transient flash unit. A polyethylene impact projectile was also photographed using the transient flash unit.
