Hot spot: Wauwatosa, Wis. Kalmbach's onetime hometown offers a railfan feast

LOCATION: A western Milwaukee suburb, Wauwatosa provides visitors with ample opportunities for railroad photography. From 1936 to 1940, the year that TRAINS magazine launched, the city was home to Kalmbach Publishing Co. on State Street, in the block of buildings visible in the photo above. Historically located on the Chicago & North Western and Milwaukee Road, today the Union Pacific and Canadian Pacific operate the rail lines through the city.
