New York agency may buy Grand Central Terminal soon

GRAND CENTRAL TERMINAL may soon be public property if the Metropolitan Transportation Authority succeeds in buying the landmark building from a private owner. The MTA proposes purchasing the Hudson and Harlem lines as well as Grand Central Terminal for $35 million from Midtown Trackage Ventures LLC. The MTAs board of directors discussed the matter in November. The seller, Midtown Trackage Ventures, acquired the properties in 2006 from American Financial Group, which had, in turn, acquired the Penn Central Transportation Co., the earlier owner.
