What's next for CSX Transportationin the era after E. Hunter Harrisons death on Dec. 16,2017? CEO James Foote, who joined CSX as part of a late October management shake-up, inherits a railroad facing several challenges: CSX is in the midst of an operational overhaul, is under increased regulatory scrutiny for persistent service failures, and could face shareholder lawsuits over the board's hiring of a chief executive with medical problems.CSX has an "outstanding team of railroaders" who will continue to implement Harrison's vision, Foote said the day before Harrison died. Thanks to Harrison's accelerated rollout of Precision Scheduled Railroading, the heavy lifting has been done regarding major operational changes, Foote says, and the focus now is on daily execution of the operating plan.
