One of the UK's most admired business people, Tesco chief executive Sir Terry Leahy, joined the company 30 years ago as a management trainee.rnDavid Potts, the company's retail and logistics director, started as a general assistant serving bacon and cooked meats on the delicatessen counter in 1973. Philip Clarke, the Asia, Europe and information-technology director, joined the firm in 1981 as a graduate store-management trainee. And the seven executives on the Tesco board of directors have worked for the company for a combined total of almost 144 years.
