You are now holding the biggest issue in our magazine's 74-year history. Its main focus is on transport logistic, the world's leading trade fair for logistics, mobility, IT and supply chain management. This year, the fair will welcome over 2,250 exhibitors - a record number. I am delighted to report that the Austrian pavilion (Hall A4, Stand 109/210) has also grown in size this year. We will be exhibiting as the international weekly Verkehr magazine and will also be one of the technical sponsors of this leading trade fair. This means that we will once again be the only Austrian media allowed to participate in the conference programme. On 5 June starting at 4.00pm, I will be joined by several well-known logistics experts in a discussion about the largest infrastructure project in human history under the title „The New Silk Road - where is the hype taking us?" Even if the origins of the Silk Road go back more than 2,000 years, it is far from being outdated. Quite the contrary. As part of the New Silk Road Initiative, China plans to invest more than a trillion US dollars in this rail and road network and in the sea route to Europe. This will bring Europe and China closer together. China aims to lead the world in innovation by 2035. And by 2049, the People's Republic expects to have achieved the same level of prosperity as the EU and the USA. The New Silk Road Initiative is a key part of these ambitious plans. At transport logistic 2019, we will discuss the different facets of the New Silk Road. Afterwards, we hope you will accept our invitation to an Austrian evening at our national pavilion.
