An application of generalised linear modelling to the analysis of traffic accidents

This article outlines the statistical modelling approach utilised in part of a recently-published study of accidents on single-carriageway rural A-class roads. The study examined personal injury road traffic accidents that occurred on six roads in Cambridgeshire during the years 1988 to 1994. The methodology outlined here was used to investigate the relationship between road environment factors and both accident frequency and the type of accident.
