The largest dedicated event in the traffic control industry calendar, the JCT Traffic Signal Symposium and Exhibition, is only weeks away. With a regular attendance of well over 200 delegates, this is the place where people live, eat and sleep, and occasionally drink, traffic signals. It is a two-day event with a packed programme and an overnight stay which gives ample opportunity for delegates to discuss current issues with their peers. Brian Simmonite, of JCT Consultancy, says that there is a strong focus on practical signal engineering with many of the papers relating to new design practices or innovative changes to existing practice. 'We already have a very strong programme lined up for this year. This is a wonderful opportunity for delegates to exchange ideas and catch up with new developments and the latest projects in the industry. We encourage delegate participation because this often leads to useful open debates on various issues, discussions often continuing over dinner and into the bar.'
