How to ensure that buses run on time in a busy urban environment

Bristol City Council has developed a strategy for delivering efficient and effective public transport on a congested urban network using a package of measures along the entire bus routes. The strategy was designed to provide a step change in the quality of public transport provision by increasing the reliability and quality of the service. This has been achieved on the A38 by an integrated package of measures undertaken in partnership with First in Bristol Ltd (the main local bus operator). The route covers the 76 and 77 bus route from Henbury in the North of the City to Hartcliffe in the South. First Bus provided a fleet of new, fully equipped buses on the route further improving the service provided.
