RM has been around for many years in the signals market place and has historically served two purposes: to enable remote access to the traffic signal controller for the purposes of ascertaining the operational status of the signals and making non safety critical changes to the data; and automatic notification of faults at the signal site. Having been invited by TSUK to form a two-year partnership to trial a new RM system, developed from their TCAM unit, it was with great interest that WSCC accepted. The main goals were to provide a multi-comms platform for RM, a user friendly interface and auto notification of signal faults. WSCC chose the Buck Barn Traffic Signals as the site of the initial trial, (previously reviewed in TEC April 2005).
