Dutch trial 'directed merging' experiment

The 'merging in batches' trial is just one of 40 projects on a list of measures being trialed or implemented by the Dutch Ministry of Transport in an effort to being short-term relief from growing congestion. In The Netherlands, as in the UK, traffic congestion grows by a few percentage points every year. The Dutch National mobilty plan (Nota Mobiliteit) offers solutions with a horizon of 2020. However, many of the proposed measures cannot be implemented quickly.
