CARBON WORKING GROUP

The Copenhagen Summit planned for November 2009 will potentially set the agenda for addressing climate change and greenhouse gas reduction for the 21st Century. In advance of the summit a number of Governments have set challenging carbon reduction targets that run through to 2050. The UK government has set targets to achieve an 80% reduction in greenhouse gas emissions by 2050. Part of the strategy has been to outline plans for a Low Carbon Transition plan. One key element in the plan is the reduction in emissions from all forms of transportation. ITS is playing an increasingly important role in the delivery of modern transportation systems and potentially can assist in the reduction of greenhouse gas emissions from transportation.
