Two-year extension to HATMS contract

Atkins has been awarded a two-year extension by the Highways Agency to help deliver the Highways Agency Traffic Management System (HATMS). Atkins has held the current contract since 2006. The HATMS system - also known as the National Motorway Communications System (NMCS) - enables traffic officers located in regional control centres throughout England to monitor and manage the motorway network and access management facilities including matrix signals, message signs, CCTV, emergency telephones, MIDAS, meteorological monitoringrnand tunnel management The HATMS system is defined by a wide-ranging suite of technical specifications and the HA extensively utilise these specifications within multi-million pound procurement and maintenance contracts.
