PTV unveils a new algorithm in VISUM called LUCE

PTV has unveiled a new algorithm for traffic assignment in VISUM. It is not the sort of thing that would get everyone excited but in the transportation modelling world, it does set the pulse racing. The new algorithm is LUCE, Linear User Cost Equilibrium, and, says Klaus Nokel, PTV's Vice President for traffic software, it represents a step change on several fronts.
