A major streetscape transformation will be ready for 2012 Olympics

The £30m (€34.4m) development, which will transform the existing Exhibition Road area into one of the most important public spaces in London, has reached a key stage with project managers Schal - part of Carillion pic - appointing Balfour Beaty to undertake the preconstruction stage of the streetscape works and finalise the design. This stage is programmed tornlast six months to be followed by the physical paving works on site which are scheduled to finish in the autumn of 2011.rnThe project aims to improve the pedestrian experience and increase safety for all road users by transforming the heart of London's museum district into a single surface shared public space.
