MEPs give green light to ITS Action Plan

The European Commission's ITS Action Plan, published in Decemberrn2008, has been approved by the European Parliament and adopted with some amendments. However, MEPs have called on the Commission to make a number of improvements to their proposals including enhancing compatability between ITS systems and ensuring 'backward compatability' with previous applications and systems. They also want the Commission to increase the focus on vulnerable road users and people with limited mobility, to clarify liability issues involving experts and stakeholders and to ensure respect for data protection and privacy.
