The war on the motorist is over - let's have more safety cameras

'The war on the motorist is over' declared the Secretary of State for Transport Philip Hammond in May this year. We have seen DfT end funding for new fixed speed cameras and a number of safety camera partnerships decommission cameras. We have also seen the debate over the use of safety cameras reignite following traditional lines. Rather than restate this debate, I'd like to present a somewhat different view. Specifically, that there should be substantially more safety cameras and we should make more use of them.
