Major contract awards mean Galileo on track for 2014 deployment

The announcement from Brussels that major contracts for the procurement of Galileo's operational capability have been placed, means Galileo should be operational by early 2014. The contract for the system support services has gone to ThalesAleniaSpace of Italy, the first order of 14 satellites to OHB System AG of Germany and the contract for the launch services to Arianespace of France.
