Award for better bus ride

The 2011 Transport Achievement Award, which is presented by the International Transport Forum at the OECD, has gone to Arriva Denmark for its 'Better Bus Ride' project. The jury described 'Better Bus Ride' as 'an exemplary project that excels in meeting the transport needs of passengers and putting people first'. They were impressed by the broad people focus including both passengers and employees and how they interact and can together identify ongoing improvements that deliver greater traveller comfort and a satisfying transport experience. There was also special mention for Istanbul Electricity, Tram and Tunnel, Turkey, for the design and implementation of a bus rapid transit system that has reduced travel time in peak periods by over 60%.
