Trial shows EV confidence is growing

Growing driver confidence in using electric vehicles (EVs) is emerging as a 'tentative conclusion' from the first sixth months of the UK's largest EV trial to date, in North East England, delegates heard at a TRAFFEX 2011 seminar on 'Achieving Carbon reduction through ITS'. 'Charges are beginning to be spaced further apart, with recharge happening at a lower state of charge', said Professor Phil Blythe of Newcastle University's Transport Operations Research Group (TORG), who describes the region as a 'ready-made demonstration site.'
