ITP win funding through the Geovation Challenge

Neil Taylor, left, and Jon Park of Integrated Transport Planning (ITP) Ltd celebrate winning £27,000 (€31,100) of seed funding through the Geovation Challenge organised by Ordnance Survey. Their @ccessadvisr concept focuses on improving the pre- and in-journey travel information available to disabled people. ITP will use the seed funding to create a website and accompanying smartphone, tablet and PC applications to bring together disparate UK sources of accessible transport information and repackage them into a single, easy-to-use source of information. The information will be presented on a map base using Ordnance Survey Open Data and will embed social networking tools such as Facebook and twitter. Neil Taylor says that through various social research studies undertaken for the DfT, they had often heard how hard it can be to plan journeys and how important peer-to-peer recommendations are for disabled people. 'Our aim is to for@ccessadvisr to make life easier for disabled people so that it becomes the number one complementary source of information that people choose to use alongside other journey planning tools.'
