Gone, but unlikely to be forgotten, would be a fitting epitaph for the former UK ITS centre of excellence, which has closed its doors after only eight years of existence. For it has bequeathed to the ITS community an impressive list of achievements.Prominent among these is the ADVANCE purposebuilt, future-oriented automotive research, development and testing centre. Recently enhanced with groundbreaking Skyclone technology for dealing with the effects of GNSS signal denial and jamming, this is now a recognised global showcase for UK technical expertise in the area of satellite communications and navigation. innovITS has also laid down important groundworknot least in the area of cooperative vehicle (CV) systemsfor the Technology Strategy Board's new Transport Systems Catapult, due to go live before end-2013. Not least, it has published a worldwide, result-based review of the efficacy of ITS as demonstrated in real industry assessments - with achieved gains of up to 20% - and, in the process, fostered the emergence of a new framework for the future evaluation of ITS sustainability.
