Youth at the forefront

ITS (UK)'s recent launch of a young professionals' interest group (YPIG) is a first for any country's ITS association, believes general secretary Jennie Martin - and her view is supported by Anna Limbrey, who runs the ITS Nationals Network at ERTICO-ITS Europe. Membership is now open to qualifying practitioners who belong to any participating association and young members of ITS Austria have been first in through the door - opening up prospects for a series of fruitful cross-border initiatives. Inaugural YPIG chair Mara Makoni of Mouchel Consulting (now part of the Kier Group) says: 'we are conscious of the immense contribution that we young professionals can make to the ITS sector and the transport industry in general, bringing fresh perspectives and challenging existing mindsets'.
