China's Protection of the Individual and Private Sectors of the Economy and Trademark Rights

On March 16, the Fifth Session of the Tenth National People's Congress adopted the Property Law by vote. During the 40th group study of the Political Bureau of the CPC Central Committee held on 23rd March, Secretary General Hu Jintao highlighted the need to fully adhere to the State's basic economic system, to unswervingly consolidate and develop the public sector of the economy, and to unswervingly encourage, support and guide the growth of the non-public sectors, in order to best implement the Property Law. Mr. Zhou Bohua, Minister of the State Administration for Industry and Commerce (SAIC), speaking at the National AIC (administration authority for industry and commerce) Working Conference held at the beginning of this year, called AICs at all levels to "unswervingly encourage, support and guide the development of the non-public sectors of the economy, including the individual and private sectors".
