Benefit reform, kate winslet and a bucket of frogs

2013 marks the introduction of radical changes to the benefit system. Some of these measures, such as the bedroom tax, benefit caps, and claimants for the first time paying part of their council tax, have already arrived. Others, like the Universal Credit single benefit payment, will be implemented by the end of the year. The impacts of these measures have been discussed in detail elsewhere, but, along with ending of place-based regeneration, they amount to a punitive set of measures which will have a generational impact on our poorest communities.
