I must admit that I have never read an academic book before that employs epigrams at the beginning of each chapter from such a wide range of notable persons. This book includes epigrams quoting Prince Charles, George Orwell, Plato, Albert Camus, St. Ambrose, John F. Kennedy, the Dalai Lama - and Arnold Schwarzenneger. The latter is quoted as saying "We simply must do everything we can in our power to slow down global warming before it is too late. The science is clear. The global warming debate is over." He is quoted as of 2008 - long before the tidal wave of public opinion swept him away.
