A strong price finish was all but certain for those auctioning American flue-cured. Manufacturers had raised their prices at least twice since the beginning of deliveries, and the average at auction warehouse was creeping toward the $2.30 mark. The floor at Big M Warehouse in Wilson, N.C., averaged $2.25 a pound at its sale on September 29, and good sales were expected through the end of the season, which was expected to last as long as the end of October.
