I needed a new sewing worktable and found a surprisingly ideal one at Ikea. I bought the table surface and legs separately. I chose the largest tabletop I could comfortably use (60 inches by 30 inches), and then I added drafting table legs that are height adjustable. I set the table height to about 36 inches and affixed a press-on measuring tape to one tabletop edge. My back no longer tires from leaning over to cut pattern pieces as it did with my previous lower table. An added benefit is that the table is lightweight, making it simple to move around as needed. Plus, my rolling carts, wastebasket for fabric scraps, and "pending projects" wicker basket all fit neatly underneath.
